IMHO, it's better not having sealant on drawstrings. Louis Vuitton puts sealant on their vachetta leathers (handles, straps) but they do not put their sealant on their drawstrings, just pure leather. However, the kind of use that drawstings get (constant pulling it tight or loosening it up) may produce conditions that will have this happen again.
